First and foremost, remember that high school is a wonderful experience in and of itself. The four years ahead will be filled with plenty of surprises and opportunities. Work hard, have fun, and try not to worry!

- Talk to friends, parents, family, teachers, counselors - anybody! - about your ideas and hopes for after high school.
- Get to know your new teachers and your guidance counselor. The school staff can be a great resource for the next four years!
- Work hard to make your grades the best they can be. The stronger your grades, the more options you will have down the road.
- Attend the "Planning for College" program in early November. This program is specifically geared toward parents of 9th grade students.
Spring Semester:
- Start a “My College” file. In this file you'll collect things like:
- copies of report cards
- honors or awards
- list of extra-curricular activities
- list of volunteer or community activities
- information about colleges or careers that interest you
- Meet with your Guidance Counselor to plan your 10th grade classes. During this meeting you could also take some time to talk about class ideas for your Junior and Senior year courses.
